From the Editor: Before it’s too late
As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure. As mums, our thoughts are often occupied with ways to keep our tots safe from harm, sickness and any threat to their well-being. While we don’t want to over-police our children, taking precautions in safeguarding your child’s environment will give you much needed peace of mind.
This issue we look into Safeguarding 101: early preventive measures for baby.
- Learn more about vaccination for pregnant mums, so that you are not vulnerable to illnesses that may threaten the growth of the foetus you’re carrying.
- Newborns have immunisation schedules as recommended by our national health ministry. Here’s a quick guide to vaccinations, from the mandatory ones to the electives.
- Expert Paediatrician, Dr. Khoo Boo Aik will discuss all about vaccination in relation to common childhood illnesses at our upcoming Positive Pregnancy workshop. Register now if you’re interested. Limited spaces left!
Above are the very basic preventive steps in ensuring safety. As they grow, the considerations in diet, surroundings and activity will also grow. Every mum will begin to develop their own philosophy on how little or how much intervention when it comes to other things such as baby-proofing, food and toy choices for children and cleanliness. Feel free to share yours on our Facebook page!
Until next time!
