Positive response at Pitter Pattter’s Positive Pregnancy workshop
One of the most fulfilling things about running an ante-natal workshop is seeing the the eager faces of parents-to-be who walk through the doors, excited to learn how to give their best to the child they are expecting. This time was no different. On the 16th November 2014, Pitter Patter hosted more than 200 mummies and daddies at its 20th Ante-Natal Forum at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC).
The Tour of Knowledge and Marketplace allowed those who arrived early, as early as 10.00am, to take full advantage of the showcase put up by our sponsors such as Mead Johnson, Pfizer, Cellsafe, Panasonic, Fusion Skin Consultant and Prudential, to name a few. There was also an opportunity for attendees to get hands-on with the basics of newborn care like baby bathing, umbilical cord care and swaddling presented by the experienced nurses from Sunway Medical Centre.
The buzz was palpable during lunch as Dynas Nursing Attire put on a fabulous fashion show for maternity and nursing clothes. The styles on show were great inspiration for those who aspire to be yummy mummies throughout their pregnancy journey!
As the talks began, parents were all-ears as our lineup of expert speakers gave their insights and tackle the big questions playing in the minds of every parent. The talks covered a wide range of topics, for example, Miss Tan So Fie, nutritionist from Mead Johnson touched on nutrition in pregnancy; Ms. Adeline Law shared about music’s surprising benefits to babies in the womb; Paediatrician Dr. Khoo Boo Aik spoke about childhood illnesses, vaccines and growth; Jennifer Hor of Parentcraft talked about the importance of establishing a sleep routine for babies; and Jasmeen Tay, a lactation consultant taught about the roadblocks to breastfeeding and how to overcome them.
There were also special sessions exclusively for mums and exclusively for dads. This allows them to explore in more depth the challenges they will be facing specific to their new roles in their baby’s life. Mums could talk about changes to their body, labour and confinement, including a talk about hair & skincare by Fusion Skin Consultants. Dads, on the other hand, were being prepared for their supportive role as a caregiver and how to effectively manage their time and stress on top of their work demands.
Pitter Patter is committed to partner with parents not just on their pregnancy and birth journey but also in their parenting journey as babies grow to become toddlers and toddlers to pre-schoolers and beyond. Topics such as child passenger safety, medical protection in the form of insurance and cord blood banking (by Cellsafe) were also presented by speakers and sponsors.
While it seemed like a day of intense learning, the atmosphere was light and full of laughter as parents mingled, learned together and did the practical exercises together. At the end of the day, parents went home feeling confident they have what it takes to nurture their little one, and satisfied with a bag full of discounts and promotions from our goody bags!
A big thank you to participants, speakers, sponsors and vendors from all of us at Pitter Patter!
