What is happening to my Baby?
Your baby continues to grow. However, now the other parts of your baby’s body is catching up with the head. Up till now, the head has always been the largest part of the body. Now it is one-third of the body. Fine hair called lanugo is growing on your baby’s skin. At this stage, your baby is about 65 – 78mm in length.
What is happening to me?
You will notice slight weight gain as your baby is growing. There is less nausea but more heart burn. There may be also skin and breast changes. Milk secretion called colostrum at this stage could be expressed from the nipples. Since your appetite will be improving you will be eating more and your weight will slowly increased. However, you need to eat a balanced and healthy diet as you are eating for two now.
What should I plan this week?
- Review your diet. Discuss with your doctor regarding having a healthy and balanced diet. You also need to include calcium in your diet. You will require up to 1500mg of Calcium during pregnancy.

Tips on how to eat for two during pregnancy:
- Eat a healthy and balanced diet
- Eat a healthy nutritional breakfast is a good start to the day
- Snack healthy food throughout the day i.e yoghurt, fruits or nuts
- Avoid junk and oily food
- Eat food with good fat in it such as olive oil, nuts, oily fish or avocado
