What is happening to my baby?

Your baby is now about 17 ½ to 19 inches long and weighs 2.75kg. As the space in the womb get smaller with your growing baby, the baby tends to be fix in one position from now onwards either the cephalic position i.e head in the pelvis or breech position i.e the bottoms down in the pelvis with the legs up in the rib cage. If your baby is in the breech position talk to your doctor about it.
What is happening to me?
The top of your womb may now be at the chest or breast bone. You may be experiencing more Braxton-Hicks contractions as your womb practices and prepares for the real labour. If you notice any watery clear vaginal fluid or discharge or blood, see your doctor immediately.
What should I plan this week?
  • Prepare your bag to put things needed for labour
  • Read up about pain killers during analgesia
  • Read up about breech and options of management
Tip of the week
The following are tips for preparing for pain during labour:
  • Learn what to expect during labour. This will help reduce the anxiety of not knowing what will happen.
  • Learn some relaxation techniques: Breathing techniques, Exercise, meditation, visualization, listening to your favourite tunes, changes in position or even massages.
  • Learn and decide what possible options there are for pain relief during labour. Carefully weigh the benefits and risk of each option.
